Our commitment to digital inclusion and accessibility
Our Commitment
FloorSight is committed to ensuring digital accessibility for all users, including people with disabilities. We are continually improving the user experience for everyone and applying the relevant accessibility standards to ensure we provide equal access to information and functionality.
Current Compliance Status
FloorSight is actively working toward WCAG 2.1 Level AA compliance. As an alpha product, we are implementing accessibility features progressively and welcome feedback on our progress.
✅ Level A - Currently Compliant:
- ✅ Info and Relationships: Form labels properly associated with inputs
- ✅ Meaningful Sequence: Logical content order for screen readers
- ✅ Audio Control: No auto-playing audio content
- ✅ Basic Navigation: Keyboard accessible main navigation
🔧 Level A - Work in Progress:
- 🔧 Non-text Content: Many icons and interactive buttons missing ARIA labels
- 🔧 Use of Color: Some status indicators rely solely on color (error states, progress)
- 🔧 Button Labels: Video player controls need descriptive labels
- 🔧 Complex Interactions: Analysis settings panel needs better screen reader support
⚠️ Level AA - Major Gaps:
- ⚠️ Contrast (Minimum): Several color combinations fail 4.5:1 requirement
- ⚠️ Focus Visible: Focus indicators missing on many interactive elements
- ⚠️ Resize Text: Some fixed pixel units may break at 200% zoom
- ⚠️ Images of Text: Not yet evaluated comprehensively

Known Limitations & Issues
As FloorSight is currently in Alpha development, we acknowledge significant accessibility gaps that need attention:
Critical Issues (Level A):
- Missing ARIA Labels: Video controls (play/pause, seek bar, navigation buttons) lack descriptive labels
- Icon-Only Buttons: Many buttons use only icons without text alternatives (upload, settings, export)
- Color-Only Status: Error messages and progress indicators rely solely on color coding
- Complex Interactions: Analysis settings modal lacks proper focus management
Serious Issues (Level AA):
- Low Contrast Text: Secondary text (#a0aec0) on dark backgrounds fails contrast requirements
- No Focus Indicators: Custom buttons and interactive elements lack visible focus states
- Fixed Font Sizes: Some text uses pixel units instead of scalable units
- Keyboard Traps: Modal dialogs may not properly manage focus flow
Alpha-Specific Limitations:
- Video Content: Uploaded videos may not have captions (user-provided content)
- Dynamic Content: Real-time analysis progress not announced to screen readers
- Data Tables: Analysis results tables need proper headers and relationships
- Error Handling: Error messages not consistently associated with form fields
Current Priority: We are systematically addressing Level A compliance first, then moving to Level AA. Each release improves accessibility coverage.
Accessibility Roadmap
Our systematic approach to achieving WCAG 2.1 Level AA compliance:
🎯 Next Release (Priority 1 - Level A):
- Add ARIA labels to all video player controls (play/pause, seek bar, navigation)
- Implement visible focus indicators for all interactive elements
- Add text alternatives for icon-only buttons throughout the application
- Enhance error messaging to include text descriptions alongside color coding
📈 Following Release (Priority 2 - Level AA):
- Fix color contrast issues by updating secondary text colors to meet 4.5:1 ratios
- Convert fixed pixel fonts to relative units (rem/em) for better scaling
- Implement proper focus management in modal dialogs and complex interactions
- Add table headers and relationships to analysis results data tables
🔮 Future Enhancements:
- Screen reader announcements for real-time analysis progress
- Keyboard shortcuts documentation and help system
- High contrast theme option for users with visual impairments
- Comprehensive automated testing integration in development pipeline
Current Development Process:
- Regular Testing: Manual testing with screen readers during development
- User Feedback: Dedicated feedback system for accessibility issues
- Incremental Improvement: Each release includes accessibility enhancements
- Documentation: This statement updated with each release to reflect progress
